Author's Notes: All right I admit it. I really liked the two episodes

of Hercules where the characters were playing the production staff. One

more thing, words expressed with the < > are thoughts. Words expressed

between // are telepathy between several characters.

The Chronicles of Wanderer - Redemption and Rebirth

Kansas City, Kansas, November 1990 - 2130 Hours

On a cold November night, Steve St. Wolf is getting into his car,

having just finished his first week at his new job. As he turns the lock on

his door, he hears a squeal of terror. He reaches for his gun and looks

around. < So much for a peaceful, quiet, new life. > He thinks to himself.

As he searches the night for the source of that scream, a child runs by

his car, running for his life. Following closely behind is a large ape-like

animal. As the ape approaches, Steve points his Glock 21 and fires,

hitting it point blank in the face. Steve continues to fire until the 15 round

magazine is empty, the ape merely shrugs off the 230 grain Hydro Shock

rounds as though they were snow flakes. Steve stands between the ape and

boy, giving the child precious seconds to escape, the ape reaches out and

throws Steve into a wall with enough force to kill him.

As Steve awakens a few moments later, he gets up, and reaches for his

car keys. He angrily walks over to his car and opens the trunk, getting out

several extra magazines for his gun, a grenade and a cloth wrapped

bundle. He loads his gun with the silver bullets and pockets the rest of the

magazines and grenade. Then, he solemnly unties the string holding the

cloth in place and with care he removes the sword that lays there. He

looks down on the sheathed blade and sadly mutters. "When I told Merlin

I was quitting and he could go screw himself. I swore to bury you some

place far away from me and forget about you. But, it looks like we're

needed again." And with that he closes the trunk and follows the blood

trail of the demon on the alley floor.

A few blocks away, Steve hears a muffled scream and moves to a side

alley. As he draws near the alley's mouth, the ape almost runs into him.

Steve jumps back and brings out his still sheathed sword. "Let the boy go

and I'll give you a quick death, demon." He tells it.

The demon laughs and replies in a cracked and inhuman voice.

"Foolish mortal. Your weapons are useless against me. Prepare to die!!"

And with that the demon drops the struggling boy and rushes the strange

mortal.

As the demon rushes him. Steve lets out a low laugh. < Gods, how

stupid can this demon be? > Then, he drops the enchanted sheath and the

sword known as Demon Slayer, sings out it's challenge.

The demon suddenly feels a strangely powerful presence in the alley

way. It looks up from it's rush and finally sees what it's really facing. <

How can this be? It's one of the Nine Swords of Destiny. How could this

mere mortal wield it? > The demon muses to itself as the strange mortal

ducks to the side and cuts it's side open with the mystical blade.

*****

Toby Green watches as the stranger fights the monster in the alleyway.

< Who is this guy? > Toby wonders to himself. Then he sees the glowing

blade and thinking back to his dad's favorite film. < A Jedi Knight? > He

watches as the stranger ducks down and slices open the monster's side and

as the monster screams out a challenge, the man calmly turns around and

attacks it. < This can't be happening. > Toby thinks to himself as he

watches the stranger literally run up a wall and flip over and behind the

monster, cutting it again.

*****

Steve, moves the demon away from the child, further down the alley.

As the creature corners him at the end of the alley, Steve turns around and

gets a running start. The demon sensing an easy victory, quickly follows.

As he gets near the wall, Steve jumps up

and runs up a wall and then somersaults back, landing behind the demon.

He quickly stabs its back, hoping to reach its heart. The monster quickly

turns around, looking for its opponent, as it turns around, Steve stabs it

where it's heart should have been. The monster screams another unearthly

scream and falls down, dead. Steve moves forward and stabs the monster

again, making sure that it's dead. Finally, satisfied that the monster is

dead, he utters a spell of destruction, destroying the demon permanently.

Steve then moves to where the boy is laying on the ground and helps

him up. Steve checks the boy for any obvious wounds, finding none he

asks. "Are you all right, kid?"

"Yeah, that thing wanted to bring me back to that crazy guy."

Steve looks around the alley and takes the boy's hand and leads him

away from the site of the battle. As they walk away, he asks. "What's

your name kid? And what is this about some guy wanting you? For

what?"

The boy looks up at the stranger who rescued him and likes what he

sees. A kind face and a worried expression. "My name is Toby Green.

My class was on a field trip to the museum when this crazy guy and seven

of those things grabbed our bus and hurt our teacher and the bus driver.

The crazy guy got in and drove us to a warehouse. I just got

away, when you found me."

Steve silently muses over the information given to him by Toby. <

Damn, I remember reading about that bus disappearing. According to the

papers, there were thirty kids on that bus. Shit, looks like I'm not retiring,

yet. >

"Mister," Toby asks as he pulls on Steve's hand.

Steve looks down and asks. "Yes, Toby. What is it?"

"Are you going to save my friends?"

Steve looks up to the stars and asks himself. < Why me God? Why am

I the only one who can help? Why have I been chosen to fight the world's

evils? >

Toby looks on, worried, when the strange man doesn't immediately

reply. < Did I say something wrong? >

Steve shakes his head and kneels down next to Toby and asks. "Toby,

can you show me where your friends are?"

Toby smiles and Steve realizes that he can't escape his destiny. He'd

help no matter what. His sword, meanwhile, hums a contented tune.

"Yeah, I can find my way back. Aren't you going to call in some more

Jedi Knights to help?"

"More Jedi Knights?" Steve smiles. "What makes you think I'm a Jedi

Knight?"

Toby points to a glowing Demon Slayer and smiles.

Steve chuckles ruefully and asks. "Can you show me where the crazy

man is?"

*****

Toby leads Steve back to the warehouse where his friends were being

held and they watch as a old man calmly walks around and appraises

several demons. Toby suddenly grabs Steve's arm and Steve looks to

where Toby is pointing. A cage filled with children.

Steve counts fourteen children. He leans down and quietly asks. "Where

are the rest. There were supposed to be thirty kids on the bus?"

"The crazy guy took them into that side room." Toby points to a brown

door near the cage. "and we didn't see them after that, just more monsters.

He was going to take me, but as he grabbed me I bit him and ran out. He

sent the monster after me.".

Steve quickly formulates a plan and tells Toby. "Toby, I'm going to

free your friends. Now listen to me." Toby nods, giving his full attention

to Steve. "You're going to lead them out of here. Remember that travel

agency that's not far from here and it's still open?" Toby nods his head.

"Take the kids there. I'll follow and make sure none of those things catch

up with you."

Then Steve wraps Toby in his trench coat and steps back and jumps

through the window. Steve lands in the main room next to the cage and

lets Toby out of his coat and shoots the lock off with his Glock 21. He

then orders Toby. "Toby, get your friends out of here. Now!!" And then

Steve turns his attention to the sorcerer and his demons.

Steve moves to block the Demons and the Sorcerer. As Steve blocks

their way, the Sorcerer pushes his way to the front and demands. "Who

are you fool? Why have you come to your death?"

Steve gives the bastard a devil may care grin as he replies. "Oh I'm so

sorry. I'm just playing through. Did you happen to see my golf ball?"

"What the hell are you talking about?" The Sorcerer barks out in

anger, giving the children precious seconds to escape.

*****

Toby has opened the cage and calls his friends out. "C'mon guys. Let's

get out of here."

"Toby, what's going on?" A girl asks.

"Katy. C'mon help me get the rest of the guys out of here." Toby calls

out.

"You heard him let's go." Katy pushes one of the boys out of the cage

and the rest quickly follow. As Katy leaves the cage, she looks at the

man fighting the monsters with the glowing sword. When she reaches

Toby by the door, she asks. "Who is that guy?"

"A Jedi Knight. He killed the monster that was trying to catch me.

Now he's here to save you."

"A *REAL* Jedi Knight? Where did he come from?"

"I don't know. But he knows what he's doing." Toby remarks as they

leave. The rest of the children wait for them outside.

"Where are we going?" Katy asks.

"There's a travel agency that's still open. We're going there to wait for

the Jedi Knight."

"Cool. Let's get there then. My Mom's probably worried sick about

me. Maybe I can call her." Katy replies as she and Toby lead their friends

away.

*****

The Sorcerer looks behind Steve and sees the children getting away.

He laughs cruelly. "Think that gun is enough to stop me? You're more of

a fool than I thought you were." He then orders several of his demons to

go after the children. "You six go after the brats. I still have need of

them."

Steve grins evilly as he drops Demon Slayer's sheath and the sword

begins to hum a tune of death. "They're not going any where. Those

children are under my protection and I will kill you and all of your pets."

The Sorcerer looks on the glowing blue blade and hisses out. "Fool, no

one can defeat me. I'm a Black Mage of the first circle." Then a dozen of

the demons rush Steve while another half dozen go after the children.

Steve grabs out his hand grenade and throws it at the Black Mage.

Several of his demons dive on top of it as Steve runs out the door, fast on

the trail of the demons chasing the children. As he exits the building he

hears a loud *THUMP* as the grenade explodes. < I hope that bastard got

a big taste of the blast. > Steve thinks to himself as he runs down the street

chasing the demons.

A few minutes later, Steve is turning a corner when he sees the demons

have the children cornered. He quickly rushes forward and swings Demon

Slayer, cutting two of them in half, from behind. The rest of the demons

forget about the children and attack him. As the demons turn to face him,

Steve yells out. "Toby, get your friends to the travel office. NOW!"

Toby immediately begins to push his friends away from the fight and

leads them towards the travel office. As he's helping Freddy Meyers,

Toby looks back and sees the man standing his ground, fighting the

monsters, giving him and friends time to get away. Freddy looks back and

comments. "God, he's fighting those things. Who is he?"

"Don't you see how his sword is glowing? He's a Jedi Knight." Toby

tells his friend.

"Wow." Comes the one word reply from Freddy.

*****

Steve looks at the four demons who are trying to surround him. As the

demons slowly work their way around him, Steve suddenly attacks. He

pulls out his Glock 21 and fires into two of the demons, incapacitating

them temporarily. He then rushes the other two and

cuts the arm off one and quickly decapitates the other. As he brings his

blade back, he guts the other demon. As the demon doubles over in pain,

he slices off it's head. One of the last two demons rushes Steve as he turns

around. Steve side steps and swings out with Demon Slayer and the

demon's body continues for three more steps before it falls

to the ground, dead. The last demon tries to get up, but the enchanted

silver bullets cause it too much pain. Steve calmly walks over and stabs it

dead.

As he finishes, he hears Toby's yell. "Mister, more monsters." Steve

turns around and sees a dozen more demons closing in. He quickly

replaces his magazine and shoots it off, staggering the demons and giving

himself a few extra seconds to get away. He quickly moves and follows

Toby into the travel office.

*****

Toby looks ahead and sees Katy pointing to a store front and she rushes

inside leading the kids. The kids quickly enter the store and Toby turns

around and watches as the Jedi Knight finishes off the last monster and

turns to follow the kids. Toby looks behind the man and screams.

"Mister, more monsters!!"

Fantasy Island Travel Office - 2200 Hours

Fisher quietly hums to himself as he gets a cup of coffee. "Clia, when

do you think the client is going to make it in?"

"I don't know, he was supposed to have been here about thirty minutes

ago." Clia replies as Katy rushes inside the store. Clia looks to the child

and asks. "Honey, isn't it a little late for you to be out?"

Katy rushes over to the desk and yells out. "Call 911. There are

monsters after us." The rest of the kids rush into the office, almost

causing Fisher to spill his coffee.

"See here now. You kids shouldn't be in here. This is a place of

business, not play." Fisher angrily comments as Steve rushes through the

door.

The demons outside try to follow, but they're stopped by some kind of

shield. As Steve takes a deep breath and quickly takes in the situation.

Fisher looks at the demons outside and reaches for his phone. As he picks

it up, he speaks into it. "Mr. Roarke. This is Fisher. We have a problem

at the travel office." His voice is suddenly cut off by the sound of the

door breaking down and the demons rushing in.

As the demons rush in. A back door to the office opens and Mr.

Roarke steps out. He quickly assess the situation and raises his hands. A

barrier pops up and the demons are quickly ejected from the office. Steve

looks back at the stranger and asks. "Are the kids

safe with you?"

"They are. What are you going to do?" Roarke asks.

"I was only able to rescue half of them. I'm going back for the rest."

Roarke looks outside and watches as the demons scratch at his shield.

"You're insane to go back out there."

"Since I don't have the kids to worry about, I can let loose." Steve

replies as he loads a fresh magazine into in his Glock 21. He then

removes his trench coat and jacket and loosens his sleeves. He looks at

Roarke and tells him. "On the count of three. One, two,

three." And with that he runs into the barrier and passes it. The demons

stand in their places as he passes the barrier and cuts two of them open.

As the two fall, Steve cries out. "Ares give me strength!"

*****

Mount Olympus - 2210 Hours

In far off Olympus, Ares feels a jolt as his name is called out. He turns

to his pool of reflection and passes his hand over it. He watches as a

mortal calls out his name in the heat of battle and smiles ruefully. < This

mortal calls to me for help. Should I? > He watches as he slices open a

demon that attempts to attack him from behind and shoots another in its

face at the same time. < Damn, he's good. Too good for those demons to

destroy. > Ares thinks to himself as he shoots off a bolt of energy to the

lone warrior.

His thoughts are interrupted by his father, Zeus, who asks. "Why are

you helping that mortal, Ares?"

"He called out my name as he slew two of those demons. Who is he?

I've never seen him before." Ares asks as his brother walks up to the pool.

"His name's Steve St. Wolf." Hercules replies.

"How do you know him?" Zeus asks.

"I've been observing him for the last four years. He's fought a lot of

evil in the mortal world. Helped a lot of people." Hercules replies.

"You mean I'm helping a do-gooding Hercules wanna be?" Ares

comments in disgust.

"Yes, your are." Hercules replies with a grin. "Though why he called

for you is beyond me."

"Simple, I'm the God of War and therefore Warriors. Which that man

clearly is." Ares replies with a smile as Steve cleaves the top of a demon's

head off. "Damn, that was excellent. I haven't seen a style this clean

since Xena."

The three watch as the lone warrior moves in a complicated attack

pattern. Zeus suddenly raises his hand and a miniature lightning bolt

leaves it, destroying the demon who had attempted to blind side the

warrior. Hercules and Ares look at their father and he replies with a grin.

"I like his style. Besides, maybe it's time that we started to involve

ourselves with the mortals again."

"Oh and how are we going to do that? Most mortals don't even know

we existed and the few that do know of us, only think of us as myths."

Ares mutters.

"How about a TV series? Get the common person interested in the old

stories and give them lessons about the old Gods?" Hercules offers up.

"And who will the series be about?" Ares asks in a low voice.

"Why Hercules of course." Zeus replies. "The legends all call him a

hero and he has several movies to his name. What do think Hercules?

Could we get you a TV series?"

"What would we call it?" Hercules asks.

"How about 'the Adventures of Legend'?" Zeus replies.

"Yeah, but it needs a bit more." Hercules murmurs as he and Zeus

walk away. Ares looks at their retreating backs and glares daggers.

*****

After Steve cuts the first two demons, he suddenly feels a boost of

strength and slices up a demon trying to sneak in behind him. As he takes

care of that demon, he shoots another demon with his Glock 21. Another

demon lumbers towards him and Steve promptly cuts off the top of its

head. Suddenly he hears the crackle of a lightning bolt. He looks over his

shoulder and sees the charred remains of one demon, falling down. <

What the hell? > He thinks to himself as he quickly cuts open another

demon's belly. That blow is quickly followed up with a decapitating cut

to another demon's head.

Steve stands in the center of a circle of seven demons, one of whom

was wounded. He waits for one of them to charge. Suddenly a demon to

his left charges out at him and Steve ducks down and slices it open from

head to groin. The demon stiffens as Demon Slayer's magic kills it. Steve

then takes the offensive and attacks another demon. He rushes one and

lands a double kick to his chest. As the demon drops down, he slams

Demon Slayer into its forehead. The demon quivers and lays still. Steve

then quickly slices up and cuts the demon to the left and kicks the one on

the right.

Bureau 13 Headquarters - Location Unknown - 2212 Hours

Dimitri the centaur quickly rushes over to his boss' desk. "Sir, the seers

have noticed two level 7 magical disturbances in the Kansas City area."

"Do we know the nature of the disturbances?" Horace Gordon asks.

"Yes Sir, one was an empowerment and the other was a destructive."

"Who do we have available?"

"Tunafish."

"Send them."

"Yes Sir." Dimitri replies as he rushes over to the communications

room. There he pages the team leader of Team Tunafish, Fast Eddie

Alvarez. "Tunafish, this is Central. Do you read me?"

"Central, this is Tunafish. What's the problem?"

"Two Level 7 magical occurrences in Kansas City."

"Please repeat Central. Did you say, *TWO* Level 7s?" Alvarez asks

in awe.

"Yes, that is confirmed, two Level 7s."

"Shit, do you know who we're facing?"

"That is unknown. Prepare for port to Kansas City. In three, two, one.

Port."

*****

Chicago Illinois - The Loop - 2214 Hours

Fast Eddie watches as the port opens in front of Tunafish's RV and

suddenly they were on a road leading into Kansas City. He turns to his

team and tells them. "We have a possible bad one people. Two freaking

Level 7s can only mean one thing."

"Do we know which of the old Gods we'll be going up against?" Raul

Horta asks.

"No we don't, so be ready for anything." Eddie replies as he loads his

combat pack of four anti-tank rockets and checks his 44 and 357

magnums' loads. The rest of the team also checks and prepares weapons

both magical and mundane.

*****

Archimedes flies the night skies above Kansas City and mutters to

himself. "Why me always? Why do I get the scut work? Couldn't Merlin

send one of his apprentices to do the scouting, once in a while?" As he

lands on a building he watches the fight taking place in the lot below him.

< Damn, it's Steve. I thought he quite this hero business? Better call

Merlin and tell him that the Wanderer didn't retire. > //Merlin, this is

Archimedes, can you hear me?//

Merlins replies instantly. //Yes Archimedes I can hear you. What's the

situation in Kansas City?//

//The Wanderer is fighting demons.// Archimedes replies.

//I thought he wanted out of the fighting?//

//Looks like destiny isn't letting him go.//

//Does he need any help?// Merlin asks.

//Not at present. By my count he's taken out at least a dozen of them,

but he's still facing five right now.//

//Shit, I'll be there in a few minutes. Can he hold on?//

//Yes, I think so.// Archimedes replies as his link to Merlin is cut off. <

Merlin's coming here? He must be worried about Steve. >

*****

As Steve escapes the circle of demons, he starts to run away from

them. The five remaining demons, sensing victory, rush after him. Steve,

being faster, ducks into an alley and quickly hides near the mouth. As the

five demons rush into the alley, Steve leaves his

hiding place and cuts the last demon down with a blow to its head. The

demon drops dead in the alley without making a sound.

Steve rushes after the demons and kills the next slowest one with a stab

through the back. That demon drops with a gurgling noise which warns

the last three that their opponent was behind them. The three rush Steve

and he quickly beheads the first demon in line and then moves on to the

second and stabs it in its gut. As that demon falls to the wayside, hurt,

Steve turns to the last standing demon and kicks it. As the demon staggers

back, he slices open its throat and follows up with a heart stab. The

demon drops to the ground dead.

Steve then turns to the last living demon. It's wounded but still alive.

He cautiously moves to it and the demon spits out a curse and tells him.

"Mortal you have destroyed us, but our master will destroy you." And

with that, it attacks. Steve sidesteps the attack and

stabs it in the back, reaching its heart, killing it.

Steve looks up and down the alley as he reaches for another magazine

to his Glock and silently thinks to himself. < I'm definitely going to kill

that bastard. He's ruined my chance for a normal life. > He then rushes

back to the warehouse and his final battle.

*****

At the warehouse, the Sorcerer stands with his three remaining demons

and screams. "How could one mortal do all of this? Rescue those

children and get away from you?"

"He carries the Sword of Destiny called Demon Slayer, Master." One

of the demons tells him.

The Sorcerer looks at his creature and orders. "Why didn't you tell me

earlier?"

"You didn't ask." The demon lamely replies.

The Sorcerer's eye begin to glow and he unleashes a small lightning

bolt at the demon who cries out at the pain. The demon looks at the

sorcerer and gives off a low growl. The Sorcerer laughs. "He's only one

man, what can he do but die?"

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe kill all of the demons you sent against me?"

A voice replies from the side of the room.

The Sorcerer turns around and faces the impossible. The stranger was

standing in front of him. His clothes were torn and bloody, but the man

was unbowed. The Sorcerer watches as the stranger calmly walks over to

the demons and cuts one in half. < How in the name of Satan was that

possible? > The Sorcerer thinks to himself as the other two demons

attack him. The pair circle around the man and as they prepare to attack,

the stranger shoots both of them down and calmly kills them with his

sword. The stranger then turns to the Sorcerer and orders. "Those

missing children had better still be alive you piece of shit."

The Sorcerer looks around him and asks. "What children?"

"The fifteen I took out of here were only half of the group. Where're

the other fifteen?"

"Oh, them?" The Sorcerer cackles and waves his hand. "Three of

them are behind you."

Steve turns around and his mind screams. < No!! I couldn't have done

that. I couldn't have murdered those kids. > Steve hears a noise and

strikes the Sorcerer down as he tries to attack him from behind. He

watches as the Sorcerer staggers back to his throne and he follows, cutting

him to ribbons, screaming. "You piece of shit! How could you do that to

children! How could make me kill them?!"

The Sorcerer looks up from where he's dying and tells Steve. "Because

I wanted power and this was how I was able to get it. If you hadn't of

stopped me. I would've been able to create an army of demons."

"You would have used children for this?"

"What else are the mangy things good for?" The Sorcerer replies as

Steve's sword cuts his head in half.

Steve looks around at the bodies of the children and starts to cry. <

God, why have you let this happen? > He bends down and picks up his

scabbard, then he walks out of the warehouse and slowly makes his way

back to the travel office. As he walks, he comes up to the bodies of the

demons, changing back into the children they once were.

*****

Ares watches as the Warrior deals death to the Black Sorcerer and

cheers. "Now that's how it's done. Cut the bastard to pieces and leave him

dying there."

Hercules and Zeus also watch in fascination as the mortal learns the

fate of the children. They watch as the proud Warrior begins to cry at the

loss of innocent life. Zeus turns to Hercules. "My word! I can feel his

pain here. Is there anything that we can do?"

"No father, there isn't. He has to get through it. I hope he has some

friends who could help him. I know how he feels." Hercules replies as he

thinks back to the loss of his wife and three children. < I never would have

survived if Iolaus hadn't of been there. >

*****

Fantasy Island Travel Office - 2230 Hours

He finds himself back at the travel agency and enters the office. He

looks on the faces of the children that he saved and walks over to the far

wall and leans against it. The children watch as the man who rescued

them slowly lowers himself to the floor, crying.

Mr. Roarke watches in fascination as the strange man lets out great

heaves of sobs. One of the children approaches him and asks. "Mister,

my name is Bobby. Did you find my sister, Becky?"

Steve raises his head and quietly, through a tear choked voices replies.

"I'm sorry Bobby. Your sister is dead."

"How?" Bobby asks.

"The man at the warehouse turned her into one of those monsters. I

had to kill all of them." Steve replies as he sobs.

Bobby just looks at the man in front of him and he angrily shouts out.

"Becky can't be dead. You're a hero you should've saved her. Why

couldn't you?"

"Because I couldn't."

"You killed her. You killed all of my friends. How could you?"

Bobby angrily shouts.

"I didn't want to. Believe me Bobby. Killing your sister and those

other kids was the last thing in the world that I wanted to do. But I just

didn't know." Steve replies as he stares off into space. < Maybe this thing

should be the last thing that I do. > And with that

though Steve gets up and leaves the travel office.

Bobby starts to yell. "Go ahead run away. You killed Becky and the

police will kill you." His outrage is cut short by Toby and Katy grabbing

him and pulling him away.

*****

The three Gods watch as the Warrior sadly walks away from the travel

office. Zeus looks at his two sons and asks. "So what's he going to do

now?"

"I've seen that look on too many men, not to know father. He's going to

kill himself." Ares replies. "What a waste."

"Can I go down and try to reason with him, father?" Hercules asks.

"Only if he tries to kill himself." Zeus replies.

*****

Toby walks up to Mr. Roarke and asks. "Mister, aren't you going to

help him?"

Roarke starts and he looks down on the boy and asks. "Do you think I

should?"

"Yes Sir. He looks like he could use a friend right now."

"My you are an observant lad." Roarke replies as he reaches for the

phone. The phone is picked up at the other end by an old friend of

Roarke's, Horace Gordon.

"Gordon, here." Horace replies.

"Horace, this is Roarke. There's a situation in Kansas City, can you

send in some of your people to handle it?"

"They're already there. Where are you?"

"The travel office on Market Avenue, between Chambers and Ellison."

"Hold on a second." Horace replies as he contacts the team sent to

Kansas City. "Alvarez. What's your location?"

"Market Avenue, heading to the disturbance."

"How far are you from Chambers?"

"About a minute."

"Stop at the travel office there."

"Why?"

"Because I'm telling you to. Any other questions?"

"No Sir!!" Alvarez replies then turns to the driver, George Renault.

"George pull over by that travel office."

"You mean the one with the bodies in front of it?"

Eddie Alvarez takes a look out of the front windshield and feels sick to

his stomach. "Yeah, that one." He turns to his girl friend Jess and shakes

his head as he telepathically tells her. //It's a bad one honey.// Jess nods

her head and prepares herself for the horrors

that they're about to face.

The RV stops in front of the travel office and the team gets out. As Ed

steps off, he sees the sword wound in the child's chest and silently crosses

himself. "The bastard responsible for this dies. I don't care if I have to

track him to hell. I'll find him and kill him."

Raul leans down and examines the closest child. He quickly examines

the body and tells his team mates. "I wouldn't say that Ed. This kid's been

dead for at least a day." Then he points to the hole in the head and the

symbols next to it. "See this?" Ed nods his head silently. "Its part of a

spell that necromancers use to infuse the body of a recently killed child

with a demon spirit. The demon takes over the body and slowly consumes

the soul. The sword wound is fresh. Who ever sliced up the demon, only

put the kid's soul to rest."

"So whoever did the demon in is a good guy?" Ed asks.

"Yeah, that about covers it." Raul replies.

"Okay, I'm calling tech serv and have them clean everything up." Ed

replies as he reaches for his communicator. "Central, this is Tunafish.

We need a clean up crew at our location. ASAP."

"Tunafish, this is Central. Cleanup crew is on its way. Any activity?"

"No activity, but plenty of witnesses. Will interview as per protocols."

Ed replies. Then, followed by Jess and Mindy, he walks into the travel

office. Once inside, he sees a group of children huddled together. < Poor

kids. They didn't need to see this. > Ed thinks to himself. He immediately

heads to the white haired man standing in the center of the room and asks.

"What happened here?"

"I came in near the end. You'll have to ask one of the children what

happened." Roarke replies as he heads to the door.

"Sir, you can't leave." Ed orders as he pulls out his 44 magnum.

Roarke gives Ed the once over and tells him. "Call your boss and tell

him that Roarke is leaving the scene. Ask him what you should do?"

Ed picks up his communicator and ask. "Central this is Tunafish. A

man by the name of Roarke wants to leave the scene. Should I stop him?"

The voice of Horace Gordon himself replies. "Alvarez, if you feel like

dying then try and stop him. But even I wouldn't try it."

Roarke gives Ed a small grin and then exits out the front door. George

looks over to Ed, signaling, 'Should I stop him?'. Ed signals back a clear

'NO!'. Ed then turns to the kids and asks. "Can anyone tell me what

happened?"

A small boy walks bravely forward. "My name's Toby Green, sir. Who

are you?"

Ed takes out his FBI identification and shows it to Toby. "My name is

Ed Alvarez, I'm a special agent with the FBI. Can you tell me what

happened?"

Toby nods his head and tells Ed how he met the Jedi Knight.

"This guy's a Jedi Knight?" Ed asks with a grin.

"Yeah, his sword glowed blue and everything." Toby replies and

continues the story. He tells them of the rescue of his friends and how the

Jedi Knight fought the monsters giving them time to get to the travel

office and how he went back out to try to save their friends.

Ed looks to Jess and asks. //Is the kid telling us the truth?//

//He is. This man was brave beyond words.// Jess looks out of the

office at the bodies laying there. //Oh Ed, how could someone do this to

children?// Jess asks, thinking of the Sorcerer.

//I don't know Jess. Just know that he won't be doing it anymore. Not

after we get through with him.// Ed vows, then turns back to Toby. "Toby

can you show us where the crazy man held you?"

"Sure." Toby replies as he gets ready to leave. Ed, Jess and Mindy

escort him out.

As they get to the door, Fisher asks. "What about the rest of the kids?"

Ed turns around and tells him. "Someone will be by in about five

minutes. Please keep an eye on them until then."

Fisher watches the backs of the three FBI Agents and mutters. "Some

manners."

Black Sorcerer's Lair - 2250 Hours

Ed leads Toby to the RV and he orders the rest of his team to board,

leaving the bodies to the tech serv unit already there. He turns to Toby

and asks. "Now where were you kept?"

Toby gives them the directions. When they come near the warehouse,

Toby points it out. Ed takes Toby aside and tells him. "Stay in the RV.

Don't touch anything and we'll be right back." Toby nods his head and the

team moves out.

They quickly enter the warehouse and search for any hostiles. After a

thorough search, they find themselves in the Sorcerer's throne room. They

look at the three children's bodies and shed a tear. Raul looks at the cut

up Sorcerer's body and spits on it, while screaming. "Bastard!!"

Ed sadly shakes his head in agreement. He looks over to Jess and asks.

"Think our Jedi friend came back to finish up?"

"Yeah. I like his style." George Renault replies. "You recognize him

Raul?"

"His name's Jonathon Price. A Black Sorcerer of the First Circle. The

Bureau's wanted his head for the last hundred years."

Ed lifts his communicator and reports in. After he finishes the report,

Horace Gordon asks. "The man who took down Price, where is he?"

"He left just before we got there. One of the kids railed into him for

not being able to save his sister and he left. According to the kids, he was

pretty broken up by what happened. That Roarke guy went after him."

"Does Roarke know what happened to the kids?"

"I didn't tell him, Sir."

"All right, I will. Good job Tunafish."

"Thank you Sir. We'll take Toby home now and then port back to

Chicago."

*****

Horace Gordon reaches for his phone and dials a phone number. The

other end is picked up and Roarke asks. "What can I do for you Horace?"

"Do you know what happened to the children?"

"I heard one of your people explaining it to your man Alvarez. I'm

following the man who fought the demons right now."

"Are you going to tell him what happened?"

"Yes." Roarke simply replies. "Anything more?"

"Yeah, I'd like to offer him a job if he wants it. Bureau 13 could use

someone like him."

"Thanks, I'll tell him."

*****

Steve walks slowly, deep in thought. < I can't believe that I murdered

those kids. > His steps take him to a park where he meets another

Immortal. The other Immortal is wary, and draws his sword and calls out.

"My name is Peter Kincaid, I don't play the Game."

Steve, still feeling the loss of the children, falls to his knees and asks.

"Please kill me. I don't deserve to live."

Kincaid shakes his head as he puts his sword down and tells Steve, "I

don't play the Game and I most certainly don't kill defenseless men. Find

some other way to commit suicide." Then he starts to walk away.

As he walks away, Steve tells him. "I killed twenty two children

tonight. Please, I can't take the guilt any more. Kill me."

"I still won't kill you. I don't take lives without cause." Kincaid replies

as he continues to walk away. He suddenly hears the sound of a sword

being drawn. He whirls around, drawing his sword and cuts open Steve's

stomach. Steve falls to his knees, sword still in

hand.

He looks up at Kincaid and pleads, "Please do it. I can't stand the

guilt."

Kincaid, finally seeing how much the guilt was hurting him, takes pity

and raises his sword for the killing blow.

Just as Kincaid's blade was being raised for the beheading stroke,

Roarke comes onto the scene and watches the tableau unfold. Time

seems to stop as Kincaid's sword starts to drop.

*****

"Father." Hercules calls out.

"I know. Go to him." Zeus orders and Hercules disappears.

*****

Kincaid swings his sword and suddenly feels his arm lurch. He looks

back and sees a large man holding it.

"Don't do it." The large man tells him.

Kincaid kicks out and forces the man to let him go. He immediately

thinks. < It's a God damned set up. > Kincaid quickly moves to the attack

and raises his sword to strike the large man. But as the sword swings, a

lightning bolt suddenly shoots out and the sword is flung away. The large

man relaxes and Kincaid watches as an old man approaches out of the

shadows. The old man tells Kincaid, "Walk away son, he's my

responsibility. He needs help, not death."

Kincaid looks at the old man and then back to the large man and asks.

"Who are you two and how did you do that?"

"The name's Merlin. I don't know who the large fellow is. The rest is

self explanatory."

Kincaid's eyes bulge out as he asks. "The real Merlin?"

"Yes," Merlin replies then looks at Hercules and asks. "Who are you?"

"My name's Hercules."

"The real Hercules?" Merlin asks as Kincaid stands by with his jaw

hanging down.

Hercules gives a small grin. "The one and only." He then turns to

Kincaid. "Sorry about manhandling you, but I had no choice."

"No problem." Kincaid replies as he stares at the pair of legends.

Merlin turns to him. "You can leave now."

"Shit, not a problem." Then, Kincaid gets his sword and quickly

leaves. < What the hell did this guy do to rate these two legends? >

Merlin watches him leave and then walks over to Steve. He looks

down at the man who was his friend and agent, and softly murmurs. "This

was a bad one, kid. I'm sorry it happened like it did."

Steve looks up into the face of his mentor and friend. "Please Merlin.

I've helped you so much over the last five years and I've never asked for

anything before. Please, just take my sword and end the pain. I can't

stand it."

Merlin sadly shakes his head and quietly tells Steve. "Steve, son, I

can't do that. You're still needed. A lot of things will go wrong if you die

tonight and a lot more people will die than should have."

Hercules quietly listens as Roarke walks up. Roarke looks Hercules up

and down and quietly asks. "Been a while Hercules. Why are you here?"

"Just trying to make sure a good man doesn't kill himself."

Roarke smiles. "Glad to see that you're still the same, old friend. Now

let's see to that young man over there." The pair walk up to Steve and

Merlin.

Merlin around and asks. "How long have you been standing there

Roarke?"

"Long enough to hear everything. Your friend needs help, and I'm

willing to give it to him."

"Why?"

"Because he's a good man who can do great things. But most of all,

because I can."

"Good enough for me. What's the plan?"

"He needs someone to talk to. Someone that he trusts completely. Do

you know anyone?" Roarke asks.

"His wife Katherine. That's the only person who could get through to

him now."

"Can you find her?"

"She's dead, Roarke. She was murdered eight years ago." Merlin

replies quietly.

"He didn't?" Hercules asks.

Merlin gives him a baleful glare as he replies. "She was raped and

murdered by six men. Steve hunted them down and killed them."

"He didn't let the police handle it?" Roarke asks.

"He did. When the murders came to trial, they managed to bribe their

way to a technicality. After they walked, Steve killed them." Merlin

replies.

"I knew I liked this guy." Ares replies from behind Hercules.

Merlin scowls at him and Ares holds up his open hands. "Peace old

man. I meant no harm." Then Ares snickers. "Like you could do me any

harm."

Merlin looks at Ares through slitted eyes and tells him. "What do you

want War God?"

"That man called to me and I helped him. I want to make sure that he

gets better."

"Since when do you care about mortals?" Hercules asks.

"Few have called my name and fought with such valor, Hercules. I

liked it when he called to me and not someone else." Ares replies.

"What are we going to do with him?" Merlin asks as he notices that

Steve has gone cationic.

"We'll take him to my Island. He'll find the help that he needs there."

Roarke replies. He waves his hand and all five of them are standing in

Roarke's office on Fantasy Island. Harry and Cal are patiently waiting.

Harry asks. "Mr. Roarke, the rooms are ready for

your guests. Will that be all?"

"Cal, please show Hercules and Mr. St. Wolf to their rooms. Mr. St.

Wolf is to be kept under observation and stripped of all weapons. Cal,

you will perform the search and share watcher duty with Hercules. Ares,

Merlin, please stay here for a moment. Harry step outside for a minute,

please." Harry quickly steps outside leaving Roarke to deal with the two

legends come to life. Roarke turns to Merlin and Ares. "I understand that

both of you have your reasons for being here. But I think that you both

should leave."

Both beings look at Roarke with narrowed eyes. "Why do you want me

to leave?" Merlin asks in suppressed anger. "I can understand Ares, but

me? I've been like a father to that man for the last five years."

"A father that he is very angry with." Roarke simply replies. "You said

it yourself. Only his wife Katherine can get him out of his state of mind."

"All right, but please, take care of him." Merlin asks as he disappears.

Roarke turns to Ares and asks. "Well?"

Ares grins. "I'm sticking around. I want to make sure that you don't

ruin him."

"You'll leave right now Ares. If you know what's good for you." A

voice tells him.

Ares angrily turns around and he comes face to face with a woman.

And what a woman she is. Ares looks her up and down and whistles. <

Now who is this maiden? > He thinks to himself as he looms above her.

The woman stands at 5'10" and has a classic beauty rarely seen outside of

the noble houses of Castile. Her brunette hair halos her face as she stands

her ground as Ares attempts to assert his superiority.

Her green eyes flash as she looks Ares straight in the eye and tells him.

"You will have nothing more to do with my husband or I'm make you rue

the day that you were created."

"And who is your husband, oh lovely one?" Ares asks.

"Carson Jamieson, but you know him as Steve St. Wolf." Katherine

Sinclair Jamieson replies in a cold voice.

Ares steps back and looks at Roarke. "What foul trickery is this

Roarke? You couldn't have called for her already."

"Roarke didn't need to call me. My husband has done a lot of good in

the mortal world and HE will not see someone like Carson waste

everything that he's become and done because of a lack of knowledge."

"You mean HE sent you here directly?" Roarke asks in shock.

"You should have seen it, Roarke. Saints Steven and Sebastian both

coming before HIM and demanding that something be done for Carson.

Michael and Gabriel also raised their voices in support of him. But what

really tipped the scales in his favor was when Peter brought the souls of

the twenty two children that Carson released before HIM. HE

couldn't say no then. The pain and suffering those children had suffered

demanded that he do something. HE ordered me to come before HIM and

gave me two days to help Carson." Katherine explains to an open

mouthed Roarke and Ares.

"But he called to me for help." Ares whines like a spoiled child.

"And help you did, Ares. For that I thank you. Now leave." Katherine

orders and Ares disappears. She looks to Roarke and smiles. "Thank you

for bringing him here."

Roarke looks into her eyes and feels the warmth and love that has

transcended even death wash over him. < Carson Jamieson, you are one

lucky man. > He thinks to himself as he rises up and goes to the door. "I'll

take you to his room. Will you need a room while you're here as well?"

Katherine smiles. "No, Carson was and still is my husband. I'll stay

with him."

Roarke smiles and leads her off.

Steve St. Wolf/Carson Jamieson's Room - 1400 Hours FT (Fantasy Island

Time)

Cal looks at the array of weapons sitting on the table in front of him

and shakes his head. < What the hell is this guy St. Wolf guy? A hitman?

> He looks over to where the large guy calling himself Hercules was

sitting, watching the guy sleep. Cal quietly asks. "Do you

need anything?"

Hercules looks up. "No thanks. I'm fine." He quietly replies.

"What is this guy?" Cal asks, pointing to the weapons.

Hercules smiles and looks over to the array of weapons on the table

and grins. "Demon hunter."

"You're joking." Cal replies in awe.

"Nope. I've been watching for the last four years. Ever since he found

these." Hercules points to the wrist bands on the man's hands.

"What are they?"

"They're the wrist bands that Hephaestus made for me. When he

started to wear them, I could sense what he was doing and started to watch

him in action." Hercules explains.

Before Cal could ask anymore, Mr. Roarke comes in with a beautiful

woman. "Cal, you and Hercules can leave. Mrs. Jamieson will be staying

with her husband."

Hercules gets up and heads to the door. Cal asks, pointing to the

weapons. "What about the arsenal?"

Roarke looks over the weapons spread across the table and shakes his

head in disbelief. "Leave it." He orders and he waits for Cal to exit,

before he leans in and tells Katherine. "Mrs. Jamieson, if you need

anything, just pick up the phone." And with that he leaves.

Katherine hardly notices him leave as she watches the pain ravaged

face of her husband. < Oh, my poor, sweet, Carson. What have the last six

years done to you? > She asks herself as she goes to the bathroom and gets

a clean towel and some warm water. She picks up one of the knives lying

on the table and starts to cut away the bloody clothing. After she finishes

stripping him down, she starts to gently wash him.

Steve starts to move under the gentle caresses and he asks. "Kathy is

that you?"

"Yes my love. It's me." Katherine replies.

"I've just had the weirdest dream. Do you want to hear about it?"

Steve asks.

"Not right now. I just want. . ." Katherine's voice trails off as Steve's

face lights up in a smile and he reaches for her. Katherine just melts into

the embrace and soon everything is forgotten, but themselves.

Steve St. Wolf/Carson and Katherine Jamieson's Room - 1700 Hours FT

Several hours later, Katherine awakes in her husbands arms and

snuggles in closer. His arms draw tighter and both know that each is

awake. Steve raises her face to his and deeply kisses her. As they kiss,

Katherine remembers why she was there. She stiffens slightly and Steve

looks down at her and asks. "Kathy, what's wrong?"

"Carson, what do you remember?" Katherine asks.

Steve chuckles as he replies. "Just this weird dream that I had."

"What was the dream about?"

"The weirdest thing. It covered eight years. You were dead, I was

Immortal and a demon hunter." Steve chuckles at that one. "The worst

part was the last. I had murdered twenty two kids, thinking they were

demons."

Katherine looks to Steve and evenly tells him. "Carson, it wasn't a

dream. As much as I want this to be a Dallas plot line. It isn't. I died

eight years ago and you became an Immortal, seven years ago. And yes,

you are a demon hunter. No that's not right, you're more. You're a force

for good in the world."

Steve looks at the woman who was his life and suddenly remembers. <

Oh my God. I did do it. > He quickly jumps up and grabs for his sword

and swings back to Katherine. < Or whatever monster has taken her shape.

> He points the sword at her and orders. "Whoever or whatever you are,

what the hell is going on here? Tell me now or I'll kill you."

Katherine gets up and slowly moves the sword away from her heart.

She rises up and wraps her arms around Steve. She slowly, tentatively

touches his mouth with a kiss and tells him. "Carson, I'm your wife,

Katherine Sinclair Jamieson. No one else. God felt that you needed help

and HE sent me down to get you through this."

"Why would God want to help a butcher like me? The only thing that I

do is kill and maim. Why would you want to be with someone like that?"

"Carson, you are not a butcher. You are anything but that. You do not

indiscriminately kill people. You defend them and sometimes you have to

kill in defense of the innocent, but God understands this."

"Tell that to the parents of the twenty two children that I murdered last

night." Steve hisses out in anger.

Katherine takes a step back and slaps Steve across the face, hard.

Steve, shocked, can only stand there and listen. Which is exactly what

Katherine wanted.

"Never, ever, call yourself a murderer. You did not murder those

children. That black hearted sorcerer did. The only thing that you did

was release their souls from their bodies so that they could go on."

Steve, coming out of his shock, asks. "What do you mean the sorcerer

murdered the children?"

"The spell that piece of shit used, required that he first drill a hole in

the child's head, murdering the child in the process. Then he had to place

a wand fashioned from a limb of a hangman's tree in the hole and summon

the demon. The demon would enter the body as the child died trapping its

soul. The demon would use the soul as food, destroying it in the process.

The sorcerer would then write, in the skin by the hole, the demon's name.

So he could control it. When you killed the demons, you freed the souls

being held captive."

Steve sits back down, digesting everything that Katherine had told him.

As he sits on the edge of the bed, his sword on the floor, forgotten,

Katherine wraps herself around him and holds him steady. A few minutes

later, Steve asks. "Kathy, can we lay down and will you

just hold me?"

"Yes, my love." Kathy softly replies and lays down with Steve, softly

holding him while he cries for the children that he couldn't save. Soon his

sobs quiet down and Kathy smiles as Steve falls into a deep slumber.

Kathy watches as his chest falls up and down and after a

few minutes, she drifts off to sleep as well.

A few hours later, Katherine awakens to the ringing phone. She picks

it up and asks. "Yes, who is this?"

"Mrs. Jamieson. This is Roarke. Is everything all right?"

Katherine looks at her sleeping husband and watches as a small smile

plays across his lips. A smile that she hadn't seen for eight years. "Yes,

everything is fine. Can you send some food, please. Also, Carson needs a

change of clothes as do I."

"Everything will be over in about twenty minutes." Roarke replies and

hangs up.

He turns to his two assistants and gives them the order. They both

leave to complete the tasks appointed to them. Roarke then turns to

Hercules. "Everything appears to be in hand, Hercules. Are you going to

stay?"

"Just for a little while. I want to make sure St. Wolf will be all right."

"Good. Then you won't mind meeting this producer who has some

questions about you. I'll introduce you as my friend Kevin Sorbo. A

student of mythology."

"Oh, what's his name?" Hercules asks.

"Sam Raimi. He and his partner, Robert Trebor, head the production

company called Flat Earth and Renaissance Productions."

"Sound interesting. Let's go." Hercules replies as Roarke leads him

out of his office.

*****

Cal walks over to the room shared by the Jamieson's. He silently looks

over the meal prepared by the cooks and smiles. < It's not every day that a

man's wife comes back from the dead. Man, what a babe. > Cal thinks to

himself as he knocks on the door. Mrs. Jamieson answers and smiles in

greeting. "Hello Cal. I see that you brought everything."

"For you and Mr. Jamieson, only the best." Cal beams as he hands over

the clothes and food. "Will we be expecting you and Mr. Jamieson for

nine o'clock breakfast, Mrs. Jamieson?"

"Yes, I do believe we will. Thank you for the invitation."

"Don't thank me. Thank Mr. Roarke." Cal replies with a smile as the

door closes.

*****

Katherine wheels the cart inside the rest of the way and looks over to

Steve, still asleep. She opens the serving tray and finds a bowl of fresh

strawberries and whipped cream for desert. She grins, thinking of their

honeymoon in Las Vegas and places the desert to the side. < Time enough

for that later. > She thinks to herself as she checks out the rest of the meal.

Finding everything to her satisfaction, she walks over and awakens Steve.

"Carson, it's time to eat."

As Steve awakens, he reflexively reaches for Katherine, but she easily

moves out of the way. "That bit of exercise can wait Carson. First you eat

to get your strength, then we play." She holds up the bowl of strawberries

and cream. Steve just grins and attacks the dinner Roarke sent out. While

they eat, they talk.

"So what's it like up there?" Steve cautiously asks.

"What can one say about Heaven?" Kathy murmurs, the wickedly

puns. "It's Heaven." Steve groans and throws a pea at her. Kathy picks

up a bun and throws it back at him. Steve grins and tosses a corn kernel.

It hits her in the head and Kathy promptly gets up with a wicked grin and

takes the strawberries and whipped cream bowls with her. Steve turns

around and watches as her dress floats to the floor on the way to their bed.

Kathy slides up onto the sheets and begins to delicately eat the

strawberries and cream. Steve's mouth is salivating. She gives him a

glare. "What do you need? An engraved invitation?" Meal forgotten,

Steve immediately heads to the bed and desert.

over it for it and Kathy gives a squeak of surprise as she wakes up. She

smacks Steve's hands away from the phone and picks it up herself.

"Hello."

"Mrs. Jamieson, this is Harry giving you a wake up call. Mr. Roarke

expects the both of you for breakfast this morning."

"What time is it?"

"Eight o'clock, ma'am. Plenty of time to get ready." Harry replies as

he hangs up the phone.

Kathy looks over to Steve who's reaching for her and smacks his hands.

"None of that now. We've got a breakfast date with Mr. Roarke. So get

into the shower and then get dressed." She orders.

Steve gives her a hurt puppy dog look as he asks. "Aren't you going to

join me?"

"If I do, we'll never make it on time. March." Katherine orders with a

giggle.

"God, you sound as bad as Major Franklin. But at least you don't look

like him." Steve comments with a lecherous grin. Kathy smacks him

again and Steve goes to take a shower.

Flower Garden Area by Roarke's Office - 0900 FT

Steve and Kathy walk up the garden path, escorted by Cal, to the

breakfast table meeting with Mr. Roarke. As they approach, Steve sees

some strangers talking excitedly with Hercules. He grabs Cal's arm and

asks. "Cal, who are those people hanging on Hercules?"

Cal looks over the group and grins. "Those are some Hollywood

people who are interested in doing a series on the 'Legendary Adventures

of Hercules'."

"Do they know?" Steve asks, barely holding in the laughter.

"Nope. They think the big guy's name is Kevin Sorbo. The boss

thought it up." Cal replies with a barely suppressed laugh. Roarke looks

up from his conversation and glares at him. Cal immediately moves off to

do something else. As Steve and Kathy approach, his glare turns to a

smile as he watches the pair join him.

"Mr. Roarke, I presume?" Steve asks.

"Don't remember much from last night do you?" Roarke asks.

"Everything just went too fast. Normally that's not a problem, but

things were anything but normal last night." Steve replies in an even

voice.

"Katherine told you about the children?"

"Yes, she explained it. But I still feel responsible for not being there

on time."

"Mr. Jamieson, no one can be perfect. Take my word for it."

"I know. But it still hurts. Not being able to save everybody."

"That's what makes you such a fine warrior, Mr. Jamieson. You care

for the innocent. You don't see them as things. You see people as just

that, people. You care and are willing to go to great lengths to help them.

So, please, don't take it personally when I tell you to lighten up. You were

so dour and suicidal last night that I feared we had lost you."

"You're right, Mr. Roarke. I've got to lighten up. Thank you for saving

me last night."

"I didn't do it alone. Hercules helped. So did your friend, Merlin. And

of course, your charming wife was the deciding factor in all of this."

"I know. I don't think that I could have survived without her help.

How much longer do we have together?" Steve asks in a hushed voice.

"Until 2:00 PM tomorrow." Kathy quietly replies.

"Before you two go off. I want to show you what the world would be

like without you Mr. Jamieson." Roarke tells Steve. "Would you and your

wife mind coming with me for a moment?" Roarke replies as he leads

them away from the table. As they walk the scene around them changes

and all three suddenly find themselves standing in the middle of a small

town. "The time is ten years into the future."

Roarke leads them around the corner of a building and shows Steve a

sight that could only be in his worst nightmares. A group of vampires has

the residents of the town penned up in a cattle pen and they were feeding

off them one at a time. Steve turns to Roarke and asks. "Can I go and

help them?"

Roarke sadly shakes his head. "You can't help them Mr. Jamieson.

You're dead. This is a small example of what will become fact if you

don't continue the fight. Armies of vampires brutally murdering millions

of innocents."

As they watch a lone girl rushes out of no where and attacks the

vampires. She quickly deals death to the vampires holding the people

hostage. As the vampires fall, one of them shoots her in the back. The

girl turns around and kill it before she too dies. Steve looks at the young

girl and asks. "God, she was magnificent. Who was she?"

"She was what's called a Slayer. They are girls are given the strength

and skill to hunt vampires. Sadly, there can only be one at a time and the

life expectancy of a Slayer is very short these days. Her name was Donna

Mitchell and she became a Slayer less than a month ago." Roarke sadly

explains. "Now another girl will be called to take her place."

"Where are the rest of the Immortals while this is happening? I

find it hard to believe that men like Duncan and Connor McLeod would

stand idly by and watch this happen." Steve asks.

"They are dead. Both men died trying to fight monsters that they

knew nothing about. Without you to lead them and show them how to

fight, both men were completely destroyed in a matter of weeks. The rest

of the Immortals are split into two groups. One group helps humanity and

fights the monsters. The other aids the demons and vampires and hunts

their fellow Immortals."

"What about Merlin? The Knights of the Grail? Fragnar and his

people?"

"All gone. Fragnar and Smaug fought and died fighting for

humanity. The rest of the dragon council stayed neutral and the dragons

were destroyed when no one would stand with them. The Knights of the

Grail fought to the bitter end along side Merlin."

Katherine looks at her husband and can almost feel the anger rising up

in him. She looks into his eyes and sees the old fire rising up again and a

warm glow spreads in her heart. Carson Jamieson was back in the fight.

Roarke looks at the man next to him and smiles as Jamieson asks.

"What will I have to do to stop this from happening?"

"Simply by being who you are Mr. Jamieson. The rest will all fall into

place." Roarke replies with a smile.

"When do I have to go back?" Steve asks, looking at his wife.

"Not before tomorrow. You and Katherine will have whatever time is

left to her by yourselves. The island is yours. Do whatever want and

enjoy your time together." Mr. Roarke orders as the scene changes and

they stand on Fantasy Island again.

Steve looks deeply into Kathy's eyes and asks. "Are you in the mood

for a swim?"

"With you, always." Kathy replies as they get up and leave.

As they pass by Hercules, he calls out. "Steve are you feeling better?"

"Uhm, yeah, Kevin. I'm better. Thanks for the help." Steve replies

with a grin.

Then, a loud man in a louder shirt walks up to Steve and asks. "Hi I'm

Sam Raimi, Producer, This is my partner Robert Trebor. Have you two

ever considered movie careers?" While looking at Kathy.

Steve merely grins and tells him. "I'm sorry, but I already have a job."

"C'mon, what could be better than the movies?" Sam asks.

"Demon Hunter. See ya." Steve replies with a grin and a wave at

Hercules/Kevin.

Sam's cigar drops and he turns to his entourage and mouths 'Is this guy

nuts?'. Hercules reads his lips and grins. Steve St. Wolf was back from

the Abyss.

Small Secluded Glen - Fantasy Island 1400 Hours The Next Day

Steve stands with Katherine in the sunshine of a secluded glen. They

hold each other and wish to remain together for the rest of eternity. But

both know that won't happen. They kiss for what they know will the last

time for a long time. As they break apart, Steve tells Katherine. "I love

you. Why can't you stay?"

"Because my time on Earth is done Carson. You have to go on. The

mortal world needs you to be strong. In time, you'll find someone to love

as much as you love me."

"That could never happen, Kathy." Steve tells her.

"Carson, all wounds heal with time and you will be healed. Now

please let me go. My time here is done. Always remember that I love you

and will be with you." Kathy tells him as she steps into the light and

disappears.

Steve watches as the light fades away and he slow leans down and

picks up a clump of the grass. < The last place that I saw you, my love. >

He puts the clump into his pocket and silently walks away towards the

beach and the path back to the main house.

As he walks, Mr. Roarke joins him. "She was quite a woman. I can

see how you fell in love with her."

Steve sighs. "Thank you, Mr. Roarke. For everything that you've done.

I don't how I could've survived without you, Kathy and the rest."

"You're more than welcome, Mr. St. Wolf. Now, I must talk to you

about payment for my services to you."

Steve stops and looks at Roarke. He quietly asks. "What will you

require for payment Mr. Roarke?"

"A small service. Nothing more."

"And what is this small service?"

Roarke pulls out an ancient piece of parchment and hands it to Steve.

Steve looks at it quizzically as Roarke explains. "This is the first step in

finding out the secret to the 'Game'. It will lead you to other pieces of

information. Those pieces will lead you to other pieces, until you find the

secret. That is my payment. Find the secret to the 'Game' and stop the

slaughter."

Steve looks at Roarke with a new light and his voice breaks as he grabs

him up in a hug. "Thank you, Mr. Roarke. I don't know what to say, other

than, yes. I will do it. Thank you." Steve lets Roarke go and hurries away

to pack for the return trip and the beginning of a new quest.

"No, Mr. St. Wolf. Thank you." Roarke quietly murmurs and goes to

arrange Steve's flight back to the States.

The End, for now.
